Helen's Pilates

Relax & Rebuild with movement

Small group classes, sessions and workshops designed to empower you in understanding gaining better control of your body.

The beauty of Pilates is that anyone, at any age can start.

Meet Helen

Hi, my name is Helen.

I trained with Body Control Pilates, which is the leading Pilates training organisation and highly respected.  I chose The Body Control method as I wanted to gain a deep level of knowledge about the workings of the body and to be able to help clients in improving movement and mobility in a fun and relaxing learning environment.

There are so many reasons I love Pilates, the sense of wellbeing after a session is something I can't relate to any other exercise regime.  With these movements, your body is released from tension, and stretched dynamically.  Your muscles are lengthened and strengthened and as I add variety in the sessions and we do not work a muscle group to fatigue, you won't feel aches in the same way as other exercises.

You will find your joints to be more mobile, your clothes may fit better as your posture improves.  As Joseph Pilates said "A man is only as old as his spinal column", which is so true.  It is my aim for you to feel well to move and for you to be able to go about your day knowing your body is capable of keeping up.

The exercises are suitable for everyone and can be adapted to suit mobility issues or training needs.

If you haven't tried Pilates and you would like to, get in touch and we can discuss the beginning of your Pilates journey.

I hold the following qualifications:

Pre & Post hip operation rehabilitation

Pre & Post Natal Level 3

Pilates for Golfers

Intermediate Matwork

What can Pilates do for you?

  • As Pilates is an all over body workout that is also gentle on the joints, it is suitable for most people, and can be tailored to suit individual needs.

  • Pilates can increase your mental strength and coordination.  You may leave class feeling like you've cleared your mind of stress.

  • Mobility and flexibility in the joints and muscles will improve over time.

  • Balance work is included in my classes which help you cognitively and physically to improve your balance.

  • Training for a sporting event or preparing for an operation such as hip/knee replacement.  Pilates before an operation can help speed up the healing process and in some cases reduce the need to have the surgery.

"Helen is a fantastic teacher who builds progression into each session so you can choose your ability level. Loving the optional homework too." - Clare Wooley

"Helen’s class in Northallerton is great. She makes sure that everyone is doing the moves just right and looks after us all"- Katherine Hatfield

"I’ve really enjoyed the classes with Helen, she made us all feel at ease and explained everything we needed to know about breathing and making sure we were in the right position to get the best from each exercise, can’t wait for the next 6 classes to start" -Julie Gray
